Stewardship
Stewardship is the concept that the Lord has given to us a great treasure that we are to care for in His absence. We are to use this great treasure to help advance God’s work on earth: to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to offer up a sacrifice that is acceptable to the Lord. The great treasure itself is us: our time, our abilities, our fortunes. These three come together to create a community of God at Concordia.
Stewardship at Concordia serves to ensure that the work of the Lord continues in and around our community of faith. Our mission is to hold open the doors wide to those seeking the grace and love of Christ. We do this by making sure the church is supported in its ministries, plus we look to see wherein lies the most need and try to match the individual talents of our members to meet these challenges accordingly.
Annually, the congregation is asked to reflect on God’s blessing in our life, plus all the wonderful things He does through Concordia. There are a lot of good things that come from this place (see Outreach). It comes from having Concordia as our spiritual place of worship from which we do God’s work to help others. Stewardship is about giving in response to this.
As Christians, we are called to give to the church and to keep the ministry of the Lord going as a projection of our living faith. It’s not just a matter of giving your fortune: God wants the whole person as a thanksgiving offering for all Christ has done in our lives.
