Early Beginnings
The roots of Concordia Lutheran Church trace back to a small group of German immigrants who settled in Manchester in the late 1800s. Seeking a place to worship in their native language and traditions, they began gathering for services in homes and rented spaces. Their dedication and faith led to the formal establishment of Concordia Lutheran Church in 1894.
Growth and Development
In its early years, the church faced numerous challenges, including the Great Depression and World War II. Despite these hardships, the congregation remained steadfast, and the church continued to grow. By the 1950s, Concordia had outgrown its original building, prompting the construction of a new, larger facility at its current location on Pitkin Street.
Community Engagement
Throughout its history, Concordia Lutheran Church has been deeply committed to serving the Manchester community. The church has established various outreach programs, including food drives, clothing donations, and support for local shelters. Concordia is also a strong partner of MACC Charities, working together to address the needs of the less fortunate in the area.
Worship and Fellowship
Concordia Lutheran Church is known for its vibrant worship services, which blend traditional hymns with contemporary music. The church offers a range of programs for all ages, including Coffee Hour, Bible Study, Member Care, Congregation Dinners, and many more. The congregation values fellowship and often hosts events such as potlucks, holiday celebrations, and community service projects.
